Monday Morning Photo: A bucking horse has more spirit

My subject this week is “spirit.”  If you have been around my son, Rial, you know he has plenty of it.  The horse I am picking up on was named Spirit by our nephew Jaxson after the cartoon horse, and a bucking horse has more spirit than most horses, so I figured this would work.

This is the place I grew up on.  It is presently a golf course and a housing development.  You can see the property to the left is still producing agricultural products.  The property on the right is dry land grain but has never produced much.  It looks like the golf course and housing development would have been better placed across the road.  This week I will use this place as an example of “sustainable” agriculture.

I am real proud of my daughter, Mesa.  She grew up being exposed to some really influential horse clinicians.  She has the desire to be the best at what SHE wants to be.  The subject this week is being yourself and Mesa is the poster child!

It was my grandmother, Alice Pate’s 90th birthday.  We had a big family get together for her. She is an amazing woman that has been through it all, from the depression to the death of a husband.  It was a great day for everyone and only my granny could make everyone that attended feel special.  She’s special.

This is a shot of my daughter, Mesa, sorting bulls. She has become quite well known as a stock contractor and model. That's all great but this is the place she spends most of her time. This is D&H Cattle Company's arena and bull working facility. I think she works way to hard and it is dangerous, but I also think she enjoys this part more than the glamour part and I am real proud of that.

R.A. Brown Ranch Dispersal

This is a great story that everyone involved with family and business should see.  It is also one that shows a ranch business that does things right, from the way they manage resources to the way they market the products they produce.  I can’t wait to learn more from them and see what contributions to the world they will make in the future.  The sale is over and the next chapter already started but this is sure worth watching and sharing.
