Horses on the trot

I very much enjoy and find great value in taking horses to pasture for night and “Jingling” in the morning.

I get two rides on horses every day that the job creates life in the horse, probably the best thing you can do on a young horse, if you like straight and forward in your horses.

I also get a real good feel for the horses I’m driving and get them to understanding upward and downward transitions from my energy I’m presenting

I also get to be a part of nature and can really enjoy seeing my grass, water, fences and get to see if horses are healthy. I would get much less if I was on a machine, so I would rather do it afoot than on a skunk wagon! (Charlie Russel’s name for motorized vehicle)

So ride along with me, and send me a video of your horse gather!

Tribe Cattle Co cow/calf sorting

This is such a nice job of working as a team and sorting cattle in a way that is fun and real good for the cattle to get better to handle rather than a cow fight.

People, cattle and horses getting better while getting the work done. Remember, they had never worked cattle, and most no horse experience just 3 years ago. They have tried hard at getting better and have done it right. I’m proud to be a part of Tribe Cattle co.!

Watertown South Dakota dog handling Demo

We did a stockmanship and stewardship event in South Dakota with National Cattleman’s Beef Association and I had my dogs along so we made cattlehandling with dogs a portion of the demo.

My Partner, Ron Gill and I discussed the importance of always making stockmanship and the cattle’s well being in mind with all the things we do to work cattle or any livestock. It’s not about the roping, horse work, machines dogs or whatever else you use that’s important, but using all things as help for you to create the right kind of presence so your livestock settles when you approach rather than try to escape, and work for you in a way that they improve each time you work them. If this is not the case, I would evaluate how you are using the aids we have available to,work livestock.

Thisis how I like my dogs to work. She’s also a great companion
