Dog Days of Winter

One week at the Art Of The Cowgirl for my wife’s very successful event in Arizona and then a great week in Virginia for the Virginia Forage and Grazing conference, I get two days home and then off to New Orleans for NCBA convention.

I’ve been missing my dogs, cats, horses and the cabin.  It was pretty chilly when I got home and everything was well cared for and in good shape.

Puppy’s were enjoying the snow, cold and cattle.

El Conejo series-round pen horseback work

This is it for a while as I am off to “Art of Cowgirl” for one of my other real enjoyable times selling the horse sale and other auction duty’s at the big event for my wife and daughter.

The old saying “The outside of a horse is good for the inside of a man” is a good one but I think  “getting inside the mind of a horse makes the outside of the man”.

There is so much pleasure to working with a horse instead of just making it happen.  The thinking, reacting and self discipline required to do this carries into other parts of a persons life and this is why it is so important and a huge part of working with animals.

I really hope this series has helped you to “think” and try some different approaches to not take the life out of a horse, but help the horse to be what they can be to fit you and the horses quality of life.

I’ve sure enjoyed sharing this nice horse with you and can’t wait to see how good he can be.

Working dog series- here’s the last of the working dog series for a while.

Hope you enjoyed it.  If you have dogs, any kind of dog get out and put ‘em on stock!

Remember, there are lots of ways to skin a cat and work a dog.  This is what I enjoy and feel is best for my style of stockmanship.  If you find something useful, great.

A friend of ours from Texas commented on one of the videos saying everything looked so peaceful.  Molly, you couldn’t have made me feel better.  That’s my goal, make everything as peaceful and positive as possible for the human and the animals.

I got a long way to go but it’s an enjoyable ride.
