Pass Through Your Corrals

There are huge benefits to taking your cattle in and out of pens while changing pasture or even just to put them in and let them back out.

If every time your cattle goe into the corral something bad happens from their point of view, pretty soon you will have challenges getting them to go in. If your stockmanship is real good or you have enough power to force them you will get them in, but you are creating bad habits, and they will get better and better at getting out of pressure.

You can bribe them into the corral with feed, and that’s better than over pressuring them, but they are not learning how to be driven, and you will have to drive them somewhere sometime, so it seems to me a good spot to help the animal learn the by moving away from pressure they will get a release of pressure which is the reward.

Going through the gate is a great place to teach the lead/follow movement that creates good flow with livestock, and going in with nothing bad happening and passing through and out really is good for your cattle, crew and everything involved.

A design system for your working pens is real important, but where you locate to get the best use is also very important. Where you place them to create best flow in and out is very important and can make you a lot of pounds by that decision.

Livestock that look forward to going in the corral are a pleasure to work.
